We're Having a Baby Boy!!

We are so excited to have another baby Boy!! Stetson is a fun boy full of adventure and I'm sure this boy will be too!! Things are going good and I'm half way done which is nice and scary all at the same time. January will be here before we know it - ready or not!! :)

This Winter when it was too cold to go outside we would have "Parties" inside. Stetson loved them!! He called dinner Party pizza, we made party cookies, we played party games and watched party movies. We pulled a mattress on the living room floor and jumped on it. It was a lot of fun and quite relaxing for me on a friday night after a long week a work.

FEEDING PAPAS HORSES

Doug and Stetson were able to feed Papa Huber's horses while he was out of town for a day or two and they both would get so excited to go over and be with the horses. Stetson had to get his boots and cowboy hat and would pick up little chunks of hay and try his darnest to get it over to the horses. He was pretty proud. He wanted to ride all of them, but we just let him pet a couple of them and he was pretty happy. They are the cutest little cowboys!!

He also got spoiled for his birthday by his adopted Nana & Papa that have taken our little family in. They are the best people in the world and mean so much to us and Stetson. He loves to play at their house and to callthem on the phone and he talks about them all the time. They got him this cutest church outfit! I love it! He looks so handsome in it... if I could only get him to hold still to take a picure....

Happy Birthday Stetson!!

Stetson turned 2 on February 11th!! I can't believe how big my little baby has grown up to be. We had two parties for him, one little party after I got home from work and school with cupcakes and he got to open two presents since he already found them in the closet and it was killing him to open them. We did take him to lunch and let him play at McDonalds which he loved and then he got his check up. He is a big boy- 95% category for height and 90% for weight. He is healthy and didn't have to get any shots on his bday! I called from worked and wished him happy birthday along with grandma and grandpas. I dont think he really knew what it meant, but he would say "Its my birthday" and "Im so excited" and "Party for my birthday".

And then Doug's parents came for the weekend and took us out to dinner and we had another party with his actual cake and he opened all of his presents and he was definately spoiled! I cant believe he is already two! He can be the sweetest little boy and give loves and kisses but he is also TOTALLY BOY and can jump and rough house. He is a little tease (I have no idea where he gets that from :) jk Between Doug and I he should have a good sense of humor which he is already showing. He loves to visit people and play with his friends. He is so patient with Mom and Dad. He says the cutest little prayers and he remembers everyone he loves in his prayers and if mom or dad forgets them in ours, he lets us know and will continue the prayer where we apparently left off. We love him so much! He is the funnest little guy!

Stetson and Daddy were going out to see horses and cows and the livestock auction and he so super excited and mom was excited to get some things done around the house while they were gone. He was being such a good boy getting ready to go. He showered and picked out his clothes and looked like such a little man. I tried getting a good picture but hes a wiggle bug and was teasing me, but I still think he stinking cute.

This year has been an adventure with ups and downs, sharp turns and fast stops, but we have loved almost every minute of it!! We are still living in Lapoint, UT – which is just outside of Vernal. We love the small town and the wonderful ward that we are in. We have got to know such wonderful people here and enjoy doing things with them! Doug is the 1st Counselor in the Elder’s Quorum Presidency, I still teach the 5 year olds in Primary and Stetson is in Nursery.

Doug’s year has basically consisted of doctor’s appointments and school. He got sick very suddenly with several symptoms and the doctors are trying to figure out what all is wrong. He has had a hard time not being able to do what he used to but does the best with what he can. That alone has been a big adjustment in our family as far as roles and what each of us would usually take care of at home. We try to stay positive and we have learned to take life slow and enjoy family time together. He started school this year and is planning on going into Nurse Anesthetist and work again one day. He has been quite the trooper through it all!

I also started school this year and will be going into nursing. I am working right now in an accounting firm as an assistant and really enjoy it. Between work, school, church, friends and taking care of my family I am busier than ever, but I know that one day this hard work and dedication will pay off. I enjoy working on projects at home when I have the time and spending time with my boys!

Stetson is growing up so fast and is going to be turning two in February. He is tall and healthy. Talking more and more everyday and other people besides mom and dad know what he is actually saying! He likes to do things that he thinks is funny and will make us laugh. He loves his cows and “hee hee” (horses). We took them to church one time for him to play with which was a mistake!! Everyone there could hear him say “Mom, COOOWW – MMMMOOOOOO.” I don’t know that the crib is any longer useful since he just jumps out. He knows not to color on the walls and will take me by the hand and walk me to the wall that he has colored on and say “ No, no mom, No color on wall.” But he gives the biggest hugs and kisses and is so fun to cuddle!! He brings so much joy into our home and we wouldn’t change it for anything!

This year we were able to go to Missouri and Nauvoo in the summer as a family to see some of the families that Doug taught and or got to know on his mission and do some fun things there. We went to a cardinal’s vs. cub’s baseball game and few rides and museums. I feel in love with the families there and enjoyed playing games and site seeing with them. We went to the Meramic Caverns and played lots of cards. We visited the Amish and church history sites. I absolutely loved Nauvoo. It’s a cute little town with lots to do. We also had the opportunity to go to Las Vegas this month for the Rodeo finals which was a wonderful little get away for Doug and I!!

Especially at this time of year, we feel so blessed with all that we have been given. We have seen the lord’s hand in so many areas of our lives this year and know how much we rely on him. I feel so grateful to have the gospel in my life. With so many uncertain circumstances all around us, the gospel is the one thing that will never change and we will always have Heavenly Fathers love and guidance if we allow him in our life. I know that he has plan for me and my family whatever may come. And that no matter what happens; the Lord will always be there by my side as long as I follow the guidance given to us. I hope that everyone can have a wonderful Christmas Season and remember the reason behind it. We love you! Love – Doug, Natasha & Stetson

Stetson was a gorilla for Halloween - He thought that it was a monkey so he made monkey sounds and he even picked it out at the store of all of the costumes!! We also found a gorilla costume for uncle Jeremiah so that they could be matching. Jeremiahs costumes was a little scary for him but it was a fun party!!

Everything Proof Toys

Why do they have to make toys so hard to get open!! They have the twist ties and then the plastic twist ties that are to strong for regular scissors! So, I was opening up a toy gun for Stetson and I tried everything to get through the tuff wrapping and finally resorted to something sharper than I should be handeling and when the zip tie finally gave loose, the sharp scissors went right through my finger too!! We tried everything to get it to stop bleeding and finally had to go to the hospital. I had the nurse and doctors on one side of the bed and Stetson laying on my other side with his bottle trying to sleep. He told the doctors to be nice to me a few times and kissed my oowie better to.

Stetson loves horsies and has stick ponies that he rides through the house and smaller ones that he has sleep with him. They had a clebration in vernal with pony rides and so we took him and he was way excited until I actually put him on the pony and it started moving and he was a little unsure about it but he rode the whole time. Then once he was off he wanted to get back on!!

We had a really big wind storm that ruined some chicken coops in our neighbors yard. Doug spent time over there helping them rebuild and fix the damage. I think Doug & Stetson's favorite part was driving the tractor. They both had big huge grins!

Stetson loves to "HELP" mom in the kitchen, especially when its making something sweet. He likes to test the doug every step of the way, expecially once sugar has been added. My Little Cowboy!

He loves his hat and his boots, even if that is the only thing his has one! From the first thing in the morning til way after his bed time he finds his shoes and will chase us around the house saying "sshhuueess" "ooouuttssssiiiiee" in a cute baby way for shoes & outside. We even tried to hide his shoes from off of his dresser so he could get to them and he still found them. We love our little cowboy! He now has two stick horses and will get one for him and one for Doug or I to ride around the house on and he even makes horsie sounds.

My 4 younger siblings were able to come and stay with us for a few days. The first day wer celebrated Spencer's Birthday with a water fight, they decorated their own cake which didn't turn out how they wanted, but it was still eatible, games, and a movie. I hope that he had fun.

Mom & Dad Black Visit

Happy 4th of July!
For the 4th of July Dad & Mom Black came and stayed with us. It was so relaxing! I slept for once and it was great to have an extra day off work! We did a little shopping, had a picnic at the park, watched movies, went to the very little Lapoint parade and then they watched Stetson so that Doug and I could go to the dinner and dance. Stetson loved being spoiled and truth be told we were spoiled to. They brought us treats, paid for dinner and picked us up new things from the store. They are so good to us and really enjoyed their company! We love you!

Stetson loves water and being outside!

He will get his shoes and sit down on your lap and have you put his "sshos" on or he chases me around the house with the shoes. Then once we put his shoes on, he will walk to the door and say "outsiie". He is very close to opening the door by himself - Aahhh! He is so much fun and getting big so fast!

FAMILY UPDATE - kinda long

Update – Wow life has been busy! Sometimes I think that we are gone more that we are home. This month is already jam packed with life! Doug and I are doing the best we can. His health hasn’t improved like we had hoped so the doctors have taken him off his medication since he hasn’t seen any results that they were expecting. He has gone from a hard working man being able to work hard to not having enough strength to function every day. His diet basically consists of Ensure and Gatorade that I usually have to open for him because its hard for him now. He will go in for a CAT Scan on the 10th to double check his insides before making a decision to put a permanent IV in his arm for stronger medication and possibly further testing since there is a lot going on with his body right now. We still try and do things as a family and live life as normal as possible. I am hoping for a date night soon.

I love my hubby so much! (even if he is sick j/k)

Doug and I are both starting school this fall. He is going into Wildlife Science to work for the DWR and I am going for a RN – nursing degree. Stetson is growing just as fast as the weeds in my garden. His personality is showing more and I love every minute of it. He likes to do things that he thinks is funny. He loves being “side” and playing in water. Stetson has been in nursery for a little while now and loves it. Doug has just been called to be the 1st Counselor in the Elder’s Quorum and I solo now teaching the 5 year olds. I love my family so much! They make me so happy.

I feel so grateful to have the gospel in my life. With so many uncertain circumstances all around us, the gospel is the one thing that will never change and we will always have Heavenly Fathers love and guidance if we allow him in our life. Although I have gone through trials that aren’t always easy and I don’t understand everything or why life has to be the way it is, I know without a doubt that I am not alone. That my Father in Heaven has plan for me and my family whatever may come. And that no matter what happens; the Lord will always be there by my side as long as I follow the guidance given to us.
There are days when, Doug’s health doesn’t look very good which is depressing for him as well as me and unfortunately I am unable to do anything for him, especially if I am at work. That causes me to get spread thin and worn out because of the stress of his health and additional chores since he is unable, bills I don’t know how are going to get paid and then we receive an unexpected check in the mail, a baby that wants “ma ma ma ma ma” to hold him while I am trying to cook dinner and clean the house and the stresses of trying to keep up with life and feeling like I have no one to talk to or no one that understands. Life can get stressful and I know that I am not perfect, but I still try to live day by day with a smile on my face to be strong for my family and wait for whatever else may come our way. I know that my trials given to me everyday are picked out especially for me. I know that as long as I do all that I can, I then can turn the rest over to my Heavenly Father and we will be taken care of one way or another. I know that with the help of my Savior I will be able to make it through it, day by day because he can see the whole picture and has a better understanding.
We may not be able to control what live brings our way, we do have control how we accept it into our lives. When looking at the world around us there are so many uncertain factors. The media seems to focus on the “bad” in the world, but there are also so many “good” things happening in this world, if we would only focus on those things and find hope. I am so thankful for my family and the joy that they bring into my life. I am thankful for my son who is busy and gets into everything; otherwise I might be a coach potato. I am grateful for the beautiful temples. I am thankful for the peaceful spirit that is there and the opportunity we have to perform sacred ordinances there. I am thankful for the power of prayer and that we are able to receive revelation. I am thankful for a worthy priesthood holder to be the head of our home. I am so thankful to know such caring people in my ward that surprise me with a clean home when I come back from vacation or dinner after Doug has been getting medical treatment, or a card or gift on my porch. I am grateful for our bishop, he always seems to know what to do or say to help lift my day. He is a wonderful man. I am thankful for the rain that makes things so green and pretty and to feel the sunshine on my face. I am thankful for my health and that I am able to do so much to service my family and friends. I am thankful for the scriptures and the knowledge and understanding it gives me. There are so many good things in this world if we only look for them.
Although we still have our hopes high and try to stay positive, we know that we are not in charge and we can only prepare for what life might bring us next and enjoy the journey that we are on together. I hope and pray that I might be able to endure the trials that have been picked out especially for me in a manner that is pleasing unto my father in heaven, that he might say to me “Well done, thou good and faithful servant”.
Over recent events I have had the opportunity to reflect on life in general and my life specifically and how fragile it can be. I received an unexpected phone call at work that my younger brother was probably not going to make it. Not knowing many details of what had happened or what would happen, I said a prayer to my father in heaven that I might be comforted and know what I could do for my brother and family. I felt such a warm confirmation come over me of my heavenly fathers love, of my brother’s love and that everything was going to be ok either way. I know that this is what helped me get through the following days. I know that the lord is in charge of our lives. I know that, as my brother lay there on life support, it could have gone either way. I am so thankful for all of the time that the lord allowed Clayson in our lives and the joy that he brought. I am thankful for the knowledge that he is in a better place and that we can see him again and that he is watching over us every day. I know that he is happy now and I can see him making everyone around him smile and laugh just like he did here. I know that Heavenly Father has a plan for him and I hope that he is being used to the fullest on the other side. It was amazing to see the love and the support from family friends and family.
Although this was a very hard thing for my family, and we still love Clayson and will miss him dearly, our family has grown so much because of it. The family unity is such a strong bond. We are closer and appreciate the family unity as a whole so much more now. We can see the love and support that we can offer one another and the friendship we all have to give. We were there to lean on each other, to cry on each other, laugh at the home videos he made and celebrate his life. We are not afraid to squeeze each other tight and express our love for one another, because you never know when the next opportunity will be. I love my family so much. I would strongly suggest never taking your family for granted. Make sure that they know how much you love them and hug them.
Because of this experience, I have had the opportunity to reflect on the plan of salvation and the atonement. I know that my savior lives and has felt every pain, and I know that my brother was not alone, because the Savior has felt every pain and agony that we ever experience. I know that he is the one that understands completely.
To me, it seems as though the veil between heaven and earth has been very thin during occasions dealing with life whether it be birth or death and it brings such a special spirit. I remember holding my little boy for the first time. I could feel his little spirit and knew that he was sent from a loving heavenly father. Although, it was hard to lose my brother, it was so comforting to be able to feel comforted by the spirit accompanied by the knowledge that there is a heaven and that this is not the beginning or the end. It was such a beautiful event to be able to experience with my family. I am grateful that we were able to have such a spiritual experience with such a strong conformation that there is a god!

In Memory Of My Brother

I received a phone call at work on Thursday the 11th of June that I will never forget. My brother Clayson was not going to make it. Although we hurried as fast as we could we didn’t make it in time to say good bye.

In the few days that followed, there were many hugs given and tears shed. We watched several of the home videos he had put together with brothers and friends to remind us of the good times and the cute pictures when he was a little guy. I never realized how much work it takes to put together a funeral but we were able to work together and get it put together. There were many late nights putting a movie together for him, planning the program and writing his obituary. It was a wonderful experience that helped us grow closer as a family.

In the hussle and bussle of trying to make it to him as fast as we could, we forgot church clothes so we all got a new outfit. The viewing was wonderful and we had a big turnout for the funeral services as well. It was so amazing to see the love and support offered by friends, family and ward members. We had dinner delivered every night for a lot of people, flowers, cards, funeral contributions, hugs and visitors.

During the viewing there was a group of 30 men that graveled and leveled my parents driveway, mowed the lawn and weed wacked the yard. We had people help clean the house and babysit the little kids. There just are no words to express our thanks for your loving kindness and the expression of sympathy you have shown us during the passing of my brother. Always hold your family close and let them know how much you love them. Life is so very fragile. . . . .

The Walsh Family

We were able to spend time with several different families that Doug built a relationship with on his mission and still stays in contact with them very regularly. They were all good people with sweet spirits and a love for our family, just good people. Of all of the families we visited, I absolutely fell in love with the Walsh family. They are an amazing family! They have private lakes right at their gorgeous home. I was only able to go fishing once and never caught anything but Doug was able to go another time with Bill and really enjoyed it.

They took us into their home and let us stay with them for a couple of days and took very good care of us. Bill cooked us breakfast every morning to start out the day right. We had so much fun spending time with them. Bill is a firefighter and he gave us the grand tour of the Fire House. It was fun and I learned a lot by asking him tons of questions which probably drove him crazy. We stayed up every night talking or playing cards or making smores and talking around a camp fire.

I think that it was really late and we were all a little out of it.

We went to the Meramec Caverns which was Jesse James Hideout. It was really humid inside. They had a restaurant, homemade fudge place and a cool gift shop. The hats were the best!

You can tell that Stetson wasn't spoiled at all! He got so much attention and was loving life.

Jake is the coolest guy in the world. He has a wonderful heart and would do anything for anybody with a great personality and WAY FUNNY! He kept us laughing the whole time.

Thank you Bill & Donna & Family for the wonderful hospitality that you showed our family. It was wonderful to have a breather and be taken care of so well by you. We truly enjoyed our visit and didn't want to leave. We love you dearly and cant wait to see you again!

Saint Louis

Saint Louis is a big city! The first day we got there was a little scary for me but once we got a map and got acquainted with the area I did a lot better with the crazy roads and traffic. Here are a few of the things that we did in St Louis!!

The first night we went to a Cardinal vs Cubs professional baseball game at the new busch stadium which is nice. It was really relaxing and tons of fun to watch. One of the players hit a home run and knocked out the "I" in the "Big Mac" sign.

Thanks for Priceline we were able to stay in 3+ star hotels which were so nice. Here are some pictures of the chandeliers I liked.

There is nothing sweeter than a sleeping baby!

Stetson loved the City Museum which is basically a big playground to play all through. He definately deserved it after all of the traveling and visiting of families Doug taught. They have a new World Aquarium there as well. I touched a shark, a stingray, and a huge turtle. There was a tunel through one of the water pools that was knida fun to go through and watch the fish.

Nauvoo

I am so glad that we were able to make it to Nauvoo on our trip. It is the cutest little town. We didn't get to see everything but there is definately alot to see and learn. We were able to see how bricks were made, the browning home where they made guns, the family center and a few homes. It was fun! The temple was amazing and to think that it was built so long ago is amazing!

Grandma Perkins Visit

Grandma Perkins and Aunt Becca were able to come for a quick visit last weekend. As usual it was short and sweet and I never take enough pictures. We were able to go girl shopping, Becca's favorite was swinging and lookging like a princess ing her new clothes and late night treats. It was nice visit.

We have such awesome neighbors! The whole Hartle family have adopted us in as their own and we absolutely love it! They are such a good family. Anyways, they were out riding horses and 4 wheelers so, we decided to say hi and they took Stetson for a few rides!

Stetson's a Big "Helper"

Stetson loves being involved in anything that goes on, including making dinner and cleaning the house. He is always there to pull out all of the stirring spoons, dish towels and pots and pans. He loves to sweep the floor and never walks through the dirt pile. Whenever I got to pick up his toys, he is right there to help through them back out of the toy box. Whenever I get something out of the fridge, he is right behind me getting in the fridge to pull more things out. I couldn't help , but take a picture. He is just the cutest little man in his pajamas and hat. I don't know what we would ever do with out our Big "Helper".

Family Update - We are so blessed

The latest with us is that life is busy! After Doug got out of the Hospital in November, It was really nice to have him home and be able to spend time as a family because we didn’t think that he would be off work for very long. His symptoms progressed and the medical bills increased and despite his requests to go back to work, the doctors refused to release him back to work in fear of him losing his whole colon, which is when we decided that it was necessary for me to go to work. I was able to find a good job doing accounting again for a CPA Firm in January. I am thankful to have a good job at times like now, especially since Doug was laid off due to his illness in February.

It’s frustrating for him not to be able to do everything that he used to be able to and being at home a lot has caused some cabin feaver. It’s hard to see a loved one hurting and not being able to do anything much to help him. We have been going to the best specialist in Utah and have been faithful in trying every treatment they have asked with still no success or definite results. The last time we were at the Doctor’s we did some more testing which was sent to California since it is the only specialized clinic in the US to do this kind of testing and we were able to finally narrow it down to Crohn’s Disease. It is good to finally have the results but at the same time it was hard for Doug to learn that this isn’t something that will go away, but something that we will have to learn to cope with for the rest of our lives. The doctors got him started on treatment Monday and hopefully it will be successful in helping with his symptoms, otherwise we will have to try something else. The good thing is that we have answers and there there are treatments. It affects everybody differently so we are still hoping for the best. His conditions can vary from day to day whether he has the strength and energy to go about a normal day and sometimes can vary from hour to hour.

What is Crohn's disease?
Crohn's disease is a lifelong inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Parts of the digestive system get swollen and have deep sores called ulcers. Crohn’s disease usually is found in the last part of the small intestine and the first part of the large intestine. But it can develop anywhere in the digestive tract, from the mouth to the anus.
The main symptoms of Crohn’s disease are Stomach pain, fatigue and diarrhea (sometimes with blood). Some people may have diarrhea 10 to 20 times a day. Losing weight without trying is another common sign. Less common symptoms include mouth sores, bowel blockages, anal tears (fissures), and openings (fistulas) between organs.

Crohn's disease can cause ulcers in the small intestine, colon, or both.

Crohn's disease of the small intestine may cause obstruction of the intestine.
Crohn's disease can be associated with reddish, tender skin nodules, and inflammation of the joints, spine, eyes, and liver.
The diagnosis of Crohn's disease is made by barium enema, barium x-ray of the small bowel, and colonoscopy.
The choice of treatment for Crohn's disease depends on the location and severity of the disease.
Treatment of Crohn's disease includes drugs for suppressing inflammation or the immune system, antibiotics, and surgery.

In the meantime, we are doing the best that we can. We are doing everything we can to stay happy and positive. We are planning on sending Doug to school this fall to get a degree and work for the State’s Division of Wildlife Reserve which will allow him to still be outside but not doing anything with physical labor. We are hoping that while he is going to school and gaining his strength back so that he can work again, the doctors will be able to get his symptoms under control and get him some medication or treatments for him.

Its tax season for me at work so life is busy for me from the time that I get up and go to work, go home make dinner, clean house take care of my baby and sick husband and go to bed. It definitely has increased my work load which is tiring, but I am grateful that I have been able to do so much and I appreciate Doug’s efforts in doing his best to do all that he can. I know that the lord has a plan for our family and I feel that although times are hard that, I hope that we might be able to endure these trials pleasing unto my father in heaven and I know that we will be blessed if we do so. I know that he can see further down the road for our family and I feel that this really might be a blessing in disciuse once it is all over. We will be better off once Doug goes to school, I will be able to stay at home, we will be able to have more children and hopefully his job will also allow him to be at home more than his other jobs have, and it will be easier on his body. His relationship with our son has grown tremendously since he has had the opportunity to stay home with him and he has a new respect for stay at home moms.

We also teach CTR5 which is 5 year old children. We absolutely love the children in our class. Some days we only have 3 kids and other days as many as 16. They are all so smart and want to do what is right. Stetson is now in nursery. He is a little young but he does really well in there. I feel like my little man is growing up so fast. I’m already posting his colored pictures on the fridge.
We seem to always have a project going. This week is our bathroom remodel and new doors and lighting in the kitchen. We will soon be doing a lot more outside to the yard and garden. We had the chance to spend conference weekend with family. It was so good to be able to sit down and visit with everyone. It had been a long time since I had seen everyone, so it was good. We really appreciate all of the love and support that we have received from family, friends and ward members. I feel as though we are so blessed!

SPRING FEVER
We have enjoyed the nice weather and being able to spend so much time outside. Stetson has absolutely loved it. He wants to go outside from the minute he wakes up until bed time. He goes outside in the morning to feed the animals and run and play. We have been able to have dinners outside, go for walks when I get home, do yard work and absolutely loved the warm weather! I am so excited to be able to put our garden in and flowers and take care of the lawn.

Doug & Stetson loaded the back of the truck up with hay for the cows and drove it back to the corral to unload it. Stetson was able to put the truck in drive and make a sharp turn over our well head in the back field as Doug was unloading the hay. When Doug got to the truck, he was laughing!

New Additions to our Family

No, I'm not expecting, but our family has doubled in a week. Doug has always wanted cows and a little farm and he was able to buy two cows to get started for now. The black steer is named "Steaks" and the Red heifer is "Ol Red". He is still trying to convince me that they are part of my food storage when we butcher "Steaks" this fall and "Ol Red" will have a calf next year.

We also adopted Jeremy & Kelsie’s red lab "Toby" last week. Stetson and Doug have both really enjoyed having him around. He is a good dog for kids. He gives all the little kids rides and lets them play with him.

I asked Doug to go shopping while he was in Provo and get Stetson a cute outfit to get his 1 yr pictures since we had a coupon for free ones and I couldn't see them go to waste. So he goes to CAL Ranch, picks out wranglers, a hat and a button up shirt. Not exactly what I was going for. Maybe one day I will get a picture without a cowboy hat in it. Maybe one day I will get a "Normal" picture, but what is normal. That's normal for Doug. Im just happy to have pictures and I appreciate his efforts in getting his pictures taken.

Since we special ordered Stetson's cake, we got his little cake FREE!! And so we let him destroy it. He didn't exactly what to do with it at first and he looked me like "Can I really have this?" Happy Birthday Stetson!!

I can't believe he is already a year old. Times flies by to quickly. We had a weekend full of fun. His first birthday party was at Grandma and Grandpa Hatchs. Stetson got his first Major Hair Cut!! I was cutting Doug's hair in the kitchen and Stetson sat on the floor watching and looking at me like "Mom, what are you doing to my daddy?" and then it was his turn. Stetson is Walking

He took his first steps at 9 months and has gotten better and better. He is all over the place now. We put child locks on the cupboards and when he first tried to get into the pots and pans after they were put on he wasn't very happy. But he still manages to find things to get into. He is really healthy and very happy. I can't believe he will be one year old next month!

Answers Finally

Some answers finally!! We have done several different tests and treatments to see how it affects Doug and his symptoms and based on those results the doctor has come to the conclusion the he has one of three things – Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative Colitis or another form of Colitis. He has been rushed in to see a specialist on February 6th for another colonoscopy, upper GI and an upper scope to find some definite answers. I was happy to finally have some results and Doug thought it was the end of the world because he was told with these diseases he will need to have a change in career that doesn’t require physical labor which is something he enjoys. Anyways, there’s the update, I looked up information about the diseases in case you wanted more info. We are doing really well with all of it. Doug has his days that he doesn’t hurt as bad as others. We appreciate all of the love, support and prayers we have received in our behalf. We appreciate you all!

Crohn's disease is a chronic inflammatory disease of the intestines. It primarily causes ulcerations (breaks in the lining) of the small and large intestines, but can affect the digestive system anywhere from the mouth to the anus. Crohn's disease is related closely to another chronic inflammatory condition that involves only the colon called ulcerative colitis. Ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease have no medical cure. Once the diseases begin, they tend to fluctuate between periods of inactivity (remission) and activity (relapse).
Ulcerative colitis causes chronic inflammation of the digestive tract, is characterized by abdominal pain and diarrhea. Like Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis can be debilitating and sometimes can lead to life-threatening complications. Ulcerative colitis usually affects only the innermost lining of your large intestine (colon) and rectum. It occurs only through continuous stretches of your colon, unlike Crohn's disease, which occurs in patches anywhere in the digestive tract and often spreads deep into the layers of affected tissues. There's no known cure for ulcerative colitis, but therapies are available that may dramatically reduce the signs and symptoms of ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s Disease

Big Boy Crib

Stetson’s crib got broke in the move and Grandma and Grandpa Black had an extra crib that we put together for him. He absolutely loved it. We put him in it and he played and played. He crawled from one side to the next and up and down and up and down. He has a lullaby machine at the end of the crib so when he wakes up he plays with that and then knocks on the wall when he’s ready for us.

I feel like I post a lot of Bath time pictures of Stetson but that’s what he loves! He splashes and throws things. He is not afraid to dunk his head under or lay down in the water. He crawls as fast as he can to the bath tub when he hears the water running or he will knock on the door when he hears the water and someone else is in.

WOW!! What an update. I haven't been able to blog since OCTOBER! I am a slacker. Hopefully it wont be that long before the next update comes. Life is sure busy though. In the last 3 months we have moved into a new home, Halloween, painted our shed and plowed our lil field, had family come for the weekend, Thanksgiving, Doug's birthday, Trip to Las Vegas, 6 Christmas parties, Teaching sunday school, ward temple night, double dates with friends, my best friends farewell, putting up christmas lights and shopping for the holidays - And during all of this I have had strep throat and tonsilitis, Stetson had an ear infection which perforated his ear drum, and Doug being sick so we have made up to 3 trips a week for him to see his specialist in salt lake. There are some days that I dont get all of the dishes done or the floors swept and mopped and I have learned fast that its ok - I know that the most important job for me each day is to spend time with my baby and take care of my husband. I have missed blogging though and hope that I will be able to find more time to keep in touch with everyone.

We had a really Wonderful Christmas! We had dinner with Great Grandma Black and another dinner with Great Grandma and Grandpa Cox. We opened gifts, played games and enjoyed each others company. All of the Grandkids got pajamas and one toy from Grandma and Grandpa Black on Christmas Eve. Christmas morning we were at the Blacks again and then we went to Grandma and Grandpa Hatch's for lunch, gifts and games. It was so good to see everybody and get everyone together. Doug and I were able to have a well needed vacation and it was Great! We were able to get vacation package with the hotel room, rodeo tickets, transportation to and from and food. We road down with the best friends anyone could ask for, Cash and Sarah. We stayed in Mesquite the first night. We went bowling and then go-karts with Cash's family which were a blast! Then the next morning the we all went to a clay pigeon shooting range. Sarah and I drove around in a golf cart from station to station as the guys attempted to shoot the clay pigeons. Then we headed out to Vegas! The rooms were really nice and the food was good and cheap. There was so much to see and do there and we didn't have enough time to do it in. We did alot of shopping and to a horse sale and the belt buckle ceremony. It was cool to see the cowboys and their families up close and personal.

We really enjoyed ourselves and were so thankful to Doug's parents for watching Stetson. We missed him dearly but it was really a great vacation.

Doug is Sick

Doug is Sick!

I have had several requests to post updates of Dougs condition and what is going on since I often am to busy to update everyone. I told Doug that it was just because they care about and are concerned for him and asked Doug how he felt about it since it can be personal. I got him to agree as long as its not to detailed.

The 1st of November, Doug got really sick. He wasn't able t0 keep any food down him and their was blood coming out of both ends. He was in a lot of pain and he said that he felt like his insides were on fire. He was so weak I had to help him get up to the bathroom and take a bath. He said he didn't have enough energy to go to the hospital in the middle of the night so first thing in the morning we went in and they sent us directly to the ER room. They did every test you could think of and once they received the results from most of the tests, they said us down and told us that he was pretty sure that Doug had Colon Cancer which is surprising since he is so young. I was shocked. I thought bleeding ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome but not that.

They allowed us to go home with follow up appointments. I did all I could to nurse him back to health starting from water, gatorade, soup and he is finally able to eat. He had more tests and a colonoscopy done. When they received the results back from that, the doctors said us down in amazement and apologized for the wrong diagnosis and that there are several other possibilities of what it is.

We are now seeing a specialist at the U of U hospital in Salt Lake. We really like him and are glad that he is willing to work with us to figure out what is wrong and find something to work for Doug. The only down fall is that he is in Salt Lake so, we have taken up to 3 trips to Salt Lake in a week which is 3 hours from where we live.

Right now we are doing a series of a few different tests in hopes of getting some answers. In the mean time we are enjoying Doug being home. I think one of the very frustrating things for him has been staying home and not feeling well enough to do very much. Although he would like to go back to work the doctor is still not signing a release for him. He does have his good days and bad days. We are hoping for the best and doing what we can. We really appreciate everyones love and support. I have to apologize for not being good at keeping everyone updated or not informing them at all. One of the hard things when talking to others about this is that we dont know what is wrong and there are questions that we dont have answers to and it is hard to tell people and answer their questions when we dont know ourselves. The other problem is, we have been extremely busy and I hope that no one takes offense because of it. I will do my best to keep you updated. We probably wont know anything more until he is done with 2 more tests which take 2 weeks each.

We sincerely appreciate all of you love and support and understanding! We have been so blessed through it all. We know that the lord knows what is best for our family and that he has a plan for us. We are very hopeful that everything will turn out the way it is supposed to be.

Oh Boy is Stetson growing! He is in 18-24 month clothes at 10 months! He weights 24.6 lbs. He has 8 teeth and working on more. He crawls all around and is almost walking. He waves hi and bye but I dont know that he knows why he is doing it other than everyone else is and he gets attention for it. He is laughing more and "talking" more. He loves people in general and can brighten anyones day. We love you Stetson!

A Visit from the Black Family

Grandma and Grandpa Black brought Stetson's cousins, Shaylee, Hallie and Makell for the weekend to see our house and to play with Stetson. We had tons of fun. We went to The Dinosaur muesuem that had a really good play area for the kids. Then we went and played at McDonalds and had lunch. The girls went shopping and the guys went home. We played lots of games and watched movies to. Shaylee was so excited for pretend make-up and oh boy what a big mess it made. Stetson thought he was such a big boy playing with his cousins that all tried mothering him. We had Thanksgiving dinner early on sunday before they had to go back home. We had a wonderful weekend with them!

Stetson loves to be in the kitchen! He loves to watch things bubble and stir things and mix things. It can be really fun unless I am in a hurry to get dinner done. He is My Little Cookie Monster! He was so good to sit on the counter and help me mix in things in the mixer. We had so much fun making pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. He played with the spoons and bowls. Then the best part was after they were done we ate them!!

Our 1st House

We are finally in a house! We had several ups and downs in the house buying process but we are so happy to be settled into our home. We are so excited to have our first home and we already have projects in mind. It is a very modest home that works for Doug and I right now. We both wanted to be in a small town, he needed a little land for a dog and a horse and I needed a bigger kitchen. We love the small town feel and being out of the city. We are so grateful for the wonderful friends and neighbors that have made us feel so welcome! We feel like they have taken us in as one of their own. We even have invites for Sunday dinner which is so nice. We are happy to be in our 1st home and in such a great home!

We have a wonderful ward. We are in the Choir and we teach the CTR 5 class which some days can be alot of work but they we are excited to be their teacher and are doing our best. Last Sunday I worked so hard on my Christmas lesson and walked out of the classroom wondering if they learned anything and then a little girl yelled "Mommy, mommy thats my teacher." She gave me a big hug and said Merry Christmas which made it all worth it. :)

Stetson is growing big and strong. He had his check up and is 28 inches and 21 1/2 pounds which puts him in the 90% for his age. He can sit up on his own and is so close to crawling it makes me nervous. But he still gets around pretty good on his own and is playing more indepenantly now that he can move on his own. He has two teeth and is working on more. But even with just two teeth he manages to eat alot of big boy food. He just started his clingy stage and thinks I need to hold him at all times. He will still go to other people he just cries when I leave the room which makes it hard to get things done. But I do enjoy every chance I get to snuggle him and read to him. Doug and I enjoy spending our time making him laugh. We are so grateful that we have him in our family and the joy he brings. His smile could light up anyones day. He is a very sweet spirited boy whom we love and adore dearly.

Stetson and I spent a week having to much fun. We visited both Grandparents, Aunt Danica, Uncle Tyson and Jolene, Tamie and her baby Evan. It was so good to see everyone that we were able to. We love you and miss you all!!

My bestest friend in the whole wide world had just received her mission call TO... RICHMOND, VIRGINIA speaking spanish. We are so proud and happy and excited for about her decision to go. We were able to spend time with her having a picnic at the temple. We were watching the missionaries come and go to get ideas for her and then we decided to go and do some shopping. She got some cute skirt and stetson got cute outfit and shoes.

Day 2 -

Stetson loved playing with his cousins, Isaac & Ethan. He thought he was such a big boy and they were so nice to share their toys while Jolene and I chatted away. When Tyson got home we loaded up, grabbed dinner and a movie and chilled. It was so nice to spend time with them. We love you tons!

It was a nice day out last Saturday so we grabbed a blanket, toys and Stetson and I went and enjoyed the sunshine. He is such a happy smiling baby. He sits up by himself really good and now. He can get up on his hands and knees and will rock back and forth and he can scoot backwards but he hasnt figured out how to move forward yet which is a relief for me because I know once he can - I am in big trouble.

We had a BBQ at my dad's house on Saturday which was delicious (but I forgot the camera). And then we hung out in the candle light since their power was out. Quite the adventure.

On Sunday we had a nice dinner with family at the Blacks home. Shaylee was so excited for the cake and asked me every 15 minutes if I was ready for my cake. She finally just brought it to me. Stetson thought that it was pretty cool and he got all excited. Jeremy and Jason watched football and we all just hung out and had a good day.

I was told not to worry about moving away from family - if you have their grandbaby they would come to visit the grandkids and sure enough it wasn't long before Grandma & Grandpa were missing their little grandson. Although we had several things planned for when they came for the weekend, unfortunately Doug had to work all weekend and we didnt do as much. But they did love on Stetson from sun up to sun down. Grandpa made him a "special" plastic bottle that was crinkled just right to make noises for Stetson. We did go and look around town and went shopping and then to dinner at Stockman's. We ordered dessert and Grandma about died when she saw how big it was. She claims they used a whole shortcake, 1 lb. of strawberries, a gallon of ice cream and a tub of whipping cream.

The guys went fishing almost every morning and every night. Some times they came back empty handed other times with enough fish to feed everyone and it was sure good.

The Black's Family rent a cabin each year for about a week. This year we choose Brian Head which is by Cedar City. The cabin was big, the mountains were beautiful, the food was delicous and the family time unforgetable. We have fun on day trips around the area or just hanging out at the cabin all day in our pajamas playing games.

My baby is growing up all to fast. He loves his baby food. When I first started him on baby food, he refused to eat anything else, but he likes a bottle to cuddle up for a nap. He knows when its coming and he gets so excited. His hands shake and he screams.

Hatch Reunion

Hatch Reunion 08
We went to our annual Hatch Reunion in Bryce Canyon in July. It was so good to see everyone. Our family was in charge this year so there wasn't as much playing, but we still had a good time.

Doug is my hard working man. He worked hard all week and then drove down, set up camp and crashed.
Branson and his friend Weston went to get fire wood and Branson had a run in with the tree as he fell down it, but he had several doctors at his aid.

Stetson was so excited with everything and everyone there that he wouldn't take a nap and would stay up until mid'night. But finally he fell asleep in grandpa's arms.

The boys went swimming at the lake, the girls were smarter than that knowing how cold it was. They had alot of fun. Doug was on the swim team in high school and convinced the guys to swim across the lake. They made it half way and everyone ditched him out in the middle.

Going to Ruby's gift shop is always fun to look around. We found a saddle just the right size for Stetson, but he didnt seem to like it.

Parade of Homes

Parade of Homes
Danica, Stetson and I went to the Parade of Homes and had tons of fun. Stetson was quite the trooper going in and out and in and out of the car all day, but he was such a cute boy. We took a ton of pictures for ideas of how to decorate our homes one day. Here are some of my favorites.

Yellow was a big color and this was my favorite room- I love the window benches and the stripes on the wall.

There was a lot of shelving in the rooms with decor.
Most of the kitchens had the tile on the wall in between the cupboards and counter tops.

You Find Out Who Your Friends Are

UPDATE: Doug was offered a job with Newfield in Myton, UT which is by Roosevelt/Vernal area. He is a hard worker and loves his job. We have been house hunting since he received his job in May and will hopefully be in a home soon.

When it came time to move, there was more people than I knew what to do with that saw us moving and came to help. It was such a big help for me especially since Doug was already moved and working so he helped when he could on the weekends. But it definatelty wasn't all work, there was fun and food which resulted in a big mess. Our lil' helpers found their way to the pantry and some how a hole got in the powdered sugar and our buddy Cash thought it was hilarious to hit the bag making it spray out towards you. With the help of Doug the flour bucket was poured all down him. :)

Stetson Loves His Bath Time
I think that my baby is part fish becuase he loves to be in the bath. He takes 2 to 3 baths a day and has wrinkly fingers and toes by the time I get him out and judging by all the screaming he does when I take him out he would have stayed in longer. He could splash for hours so I have to empty the cold water and fill it with warm water several times. Its also soothing for him right before bed time. Because he fights going to bed, its nicer to let him play in the tub to wind down rather than cry. Both of us are happier that way.

Stetson loves his swing! As soon as we turn the swing on music or bird sounds will play and the birds go around in a circle. He will stare and "coo" at them for a long time. It's fun to watch him.

There were a lot of little kids at the wedding, and when the bride and groom had their first dance all of them danced except for Isaac and Becca. Jolene (Isaac's Mom) tried to convince Isaac to go ask her to dance but he wanted nothing to do with her. After the song he started to play with her and they were together the rest of the night! Doug was so excited all week to go to one of his favorite mission companions house for his favorite hot wings that make his face go red, sweat and even cry, but he still loves them. We had tons of fun! The guys made the hot wings, did the dishes and then we played the Wii and visited. They got a little distracted whipping each other with the towels and then ganging up on just one guy.

We had received a birth announcement with a picture of their baby in a ball cap and thought that we would try it, but he was to big. So we tried Doug's favorite cowboy hat.
